Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Inspector General (Designate), today assumed charge as the Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, succeeding Shri A.K. Sharma, IG, who has been transferred to the Manipur Frontier.
A highly decorated officer, IG Chakraborty brings with him a wealth of operational and administrative experience spanning several decades. He is a recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) Medal, and the Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak.
During his distinguished career, he has served along the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders, as well as the Line of Control (LC), and has played significant roles in Anti-Naxal operations.
He has also been associated with several premier training institutions of the BSF, including the BSF Academy, Gwalior, and the Central School of Weapons and Tactics, Indore.
In addition to his core BSF assignments, Chakraborty has served on deputation to the Special Protection Group (SPG) and with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, reflecting his versatile and international exposure.
Upon taking charge, IG Chakraborty expressed his commitment to further strengthening border management and ensuring the highest standards of operational efficiency and welfare for BSF personnel in Tripura Frontier.
