In an initiative to ensure child health in the Tarininagar area under Kanchanbari Primary Health Centre of Unakoti district, ASHA Facilitator Swapna Das and ASHA Worker Josna Debnath conducted a home visit and health check-up of a newborn on November 1, 2025, at the residence of local resident Chandana Biswas.

Chandana Biswas gave birth to a baby girl at a private hospital on September 28, 2025. At birth, the infant weighed 3.2 kilograms, and during the follow-up visit 36 days later, her weight had increased to 4.4 kilograms.

Through such initiatives, regular health monitoring and care for newborns are ensured, alongside raising awareness among mothers about nutrition, rest, hygiene, and overall health. The health workers examined the newborn’s weight, body temperature, and general physical condition, while also observing the mother’s health status.

ASHA Facilitator Swapna Das advised the mother and family members on proper immunization for the child, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, introduction of complementary and balanced nutritious foods thereafter, and maintaining personal and environmental hygiene.

Early and appropriate care during the first days and weeks after birth plays a crucial role in reducing infant mortality rates.
