Preparations are in full swing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to poll-bound Bihar on Monday, where he will unveil a slew of development projects in Patna and Purnea.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan praised the Modi government’s focus on Bihar, saying every visit of the Prime Minister brings “gifts worth crores” for the state.
Hitting out at the Opposition, he said, “They will keep playing politics, but the reality is that Bihar has been given two AIIMS hospitals. After Patna Airport, Purnea Airport is being inaugurated today. PM Modi has consistently prioritised Bihar’s growth.”
BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain echoed his views, noting that the Purnea Airport will be the state’s fourth. “From Patna to Purnea, expressway work is underway. The Prime Minister is not just inaugurating one project—many more are lined up. Bihar proudly stands with PM Modi,” he said.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built interim terminal at Purnea Airport, a major step in boosting regional connectivity. The facility is expected to benefit northeastern Bihar by enhancing travel, trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.
Key highlights of the visit include:
Launch of the National Makhana Board to support farmers in districts like Madhubani, Darbhanga, and Purnea.
Foundation stone for the Pirpainti thermal power plant in Bhagalpur worth ₹25,000 crore.
Kickoff of the Kosi-Mechi river interlinking project, aimed at strengthening irrigation and flood control.
Inauguration of multiple railway projects, flagging off of new trains, and distribution of ₹500 crore under DAY-NRLM to women-led federations.
With posters and banners across Bihar and elaborate security measures in place, Modi’s visit is being seen as both a development push and a political statement ahead of the upcoming elections.
