The BJP candidate for the Dharmanagar by-election, Jahar Chakraborty, stated that the election has once again proven that the public is not supporting the opposition, as they failed to appoint polling agents in the majority of polling stations.

He made these remarks after casting his vote on Thursday morning.

Polling in Dharmanagar began at 7:00 AM, with a voter turnout of 33.50% recorded by 11:00 AM.

Chakraborty also said that the Election Commission of India is conducting the election efficiently and fairly, allowing everyone to cast their vote freely.

“This reflects the good governance of the BJP-led government. The Election Commission is maintaining a neutral role, which has proven everything. The opposition had raised many concerns earlier, but in this election, they have failed to make any allegations. Everything is functioning properly, and there are no issues. The opposition could not provide polling agents, and in some cases, agents were brought in from outside the constituency,” he said.

He further added that even in the 11 all-women-run polling booths, the opposition failed to appoint polling agents. According to him, this demonstrates that the opposition is only visible during elections and does not stay connected with the public and voters otherwise.

“This has been proven again and again in Tripura, and this by-election has once again shown that voters are not with the opposition,” he added.
