Pradesh BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma today alleged that BJP workers and party offices were attacked at multiple locations within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) following a joining programme held in the Takarjala Assembly Constituency.
Debbarma claimed that soon after Monday’s event—organised under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha—several participants came under what he described as “brutal attacks.”
Earlier in the day, a three-member delegation comprising Bipin Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, and former MP Rebati Tripura visited the affected areas to take stock of the situation.
Speaking to the media, Debbarma alleged that the BJP office in Khumulwng, the TTAADC headquarters, was set ablaze, and photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and Maharaja Bir Bikram were destroyed.
He further stated that the BJP office in Jampuijala—established only two months ago—was vandalised and ransacked, and several party workers were assaulted. According to Debbarma, workers of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) were behind the attacks. The vehicle of the local Mandal President was also reportedly damaged.
“We strongly condemn these heinous acts. We have visited the affected sites and will be submitting a detailed report to our party leadership,” Debbarma said.
He alleged that Tipra Motha was resorting to violence out of fear, as the BJP’s organisational strength was rapidly growing across the state. “People are joining the BJP, inspired by the development initiatives under the Chief Minister’s leadership. We are confident of winning the 2026 District Council elections,” he added.
When asked about a possible alliance with Tipra Motha, Debbarma said that the decision rests with the party’s senior leadership.
