The Tripura Police have made a significant breakthrough in the Bishalgarh incident involving the vandalism of a BSF vehicle and an attack on jawans.
Acting on intelligence inputs, Bishalgarh Police have arrested Nazrul Islam, a notorious cattle smuggler from Durganagar, in connection with the case.
In a related development, another accused, Mithun Kabir, has surrendered to the police along with a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number TR07-1637, which was reportedly used during the attack. Police sources said Mithun Kabir turned himself in at the Bishalgarh Police Station on Saturday night and remains in custody for interrogation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that several others may have been involved in the assault. Police have launched a manhunt to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
The incident has triggered widespread tension and concern among local residents, while security measures in the area have been tightened to prevent any further unrest.
