Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath today informed that the budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly will start from 13th March and will conclude on 25th March.
After attending the Business Advisory Committee meeting today at the Assembly, the Minister informed that Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu has summoned the Assembly session.
“The Assembly session will start from 13th March. For this, Speaker-in-Charge Ram Prasad Paul has called for a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting. A committee of the BAC has been constituted where I, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Animesh Debbarma, LoP Jitendra Chaudhury, Chief Whip Kalyan Saha Roy, Rampada Jamatia and Birajit Sinha are members. A discussion was held on how many days this Assembly session should be held, because some important issues will be there as this is the first Assembly session of the year, which will begin with the speech of the Governor. After this, a discussion will be held in memory of Speaker Biswabandhu Sen, who died recently, and then the House will be adjourned for the day,” he said.
The Minister informed that on 16th March Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will place the 2026–27 budget and the 2025–26 revised budget will also be placed, after which he will give a speech.
“On that day, for the time being, three bills including the Tripura University of Health Sciences Bill, which is for a medical university, a bill on a Technical University, and a Women’s University Bill will be placed on the second day after the budget speech. On the third day, discussion on the Governor’s speech will be held for two days. On 19th, the Leader of the Opposition will give a speech on the budget. On 20th, 23rd and 24th, discussions will be held on the budget and on the last day, which is on 25th, the budget will be passed after discussion. Ample scope is there for discussion. This BAC has taken the decision with everyone’s consent,” he added.
