Agitating against alleged misinformation campaigns, Shankar Prasad Dutta, General Secretary of the Tripura State Committee of the CITU, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to tarnish the nationwide strike held yesterday.

Addressing reporters, Dutta stated that the strike called by trade unions received a massive response across the state. “There was no picketing or obstruction by CITU anywhere. Yet, the ruling party is spreading misleading information to hide the real purpose of the strike,” he claimed.

According to him, the strike aimed to raise legitimate concerns of workers, including employment, price rise, and amendments to labor laws. “Deliberate misinformation is being spread to suppress these critical issues,” Dutta added.

He further emphasized that the strike was entirely democratic and peaceful. “The spontaneous participation of the public demonstrates that this movement stems from real problems faced by the people. Such propaganda cannot suppress the labor movement. Our organization will continue to fight for workers’ rights and take larger actions in the future,” he warned.
