The All India Congress Committee announced a major organisational reshuffle, with party president Mallikarjun Kharge approving the appointment of nine new All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries and the reallocation of five existing ones, effective immediately.

The changes, announced by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, are aimed at strengthening coordination between the central leadership and state units ahead of upcoming elections.

The newly appointed AICC secretaries include Srinivas B.V. for Gujarat, T.N. Prathapan for Puducherry and Lakshadweep, Sanjana Jatav for Madhya Pradesh, Sachin Sawant for Telangana, Rehana Rayaz Chisti for Maharashtra, Hina Kaware and Suraj Thakur jointly for Punjab, Jetti Kusum Kumar for Odisha, and Nivedith Alva for Tamil Nadu.

Among the reassignments, Usha Naidu has been posted to Madhya Pradesh, Bhoopendra Marawi to Jharkhand, Devendra Yadav to Gujarat, Pargat Singh to Jammu and Kashmir, and Manoj Yadav to Uttarakhand.

Party sources said the reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to inject new energy into state units, enhance diversity, and improve ground-level coordination. The inclusion of young and women leaders such as Hina Kaware, Sanjana Jatav, and Nivedith Alva reflects the party’s emphasis on generational change and representation.

States like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP maintains strongholds, are expected to receive focused attention under the new appointees. In Punjab, two secretaries have been assigned to strengthen organisational unity and prepare for potential early Assembly polls.

The AICC has directed all newly appointed secretaries to assume charge immediately, review district-level structures, and submit detailed action plans within two weeks. Regular performance evaluations will follow.

This restructuring aligns with the Congress’s ongoing Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, which recently saw the appointment of 27 new district presidents in Uttarakhand, reflecting the party’s efforts to rebuild its organisational framework from the grassroots to the national level.
