The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction on Wednesday criticised the Union government following a bomb blast in Delhi, alleging lapses in national security and demanding accountability from the Centre.

In an editorial published in the party’s mouthpiece Saamana, the Sena (UBT) claimed that the incident exposed the government’s failure to curb terrorism. The piece urged BJP workers and supporters to seek the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling it “a service to the nation.”

The editorial stated that despite repeated assurances from the Prime Minister and the Home Minister about eliminating terrorism, such incidents continue to occur in major cities. It noted that the explosion took place near the Red Fort — a symbolic location from where the Prime Minister addresses the nation — and questioned the timing of the government’s focus on election campaigning in Bihar amid the security crisis.

According to reports, twelve people were killed and twenty-five injured in the blast. The Sena (UBT) editorial also accused the Centre of diverting security resources toward political activities instead of countering terrorism, alleging that opposition leaders were being targeted instead of terrorists.

It further criticised the government’s approach to internal security, saying that despite repeated promises, terrorism remains a persistent threat. The party claimed that stronger leadership and better coordination among intelligence and security agencies are needed to prevent such incidents in the future.
