Doctors and healthcare workers at the state’s premier referral hospital have raised complaints about not receiving their salaries. The grievance came to light on Tuesday at the trauma center of G.B. Hospital.

Speaking to the media, the irregularly appointed doctors and staff said that the AGMC had recruited them in July 2024 for duties at the trauma center. Since then, they have been performing their responsibilities diligently.

However, their salaries have not been paid since November 2025. Currently, 22 staff members are working at the center, including four doctors, medical officers, anesthetists, staff nurses, OT technicians, and MPHW employees.

Despite repeatedly approaching the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, they have not received any resolution. “We were appointed by the AGMC authorities, yet now we are being told that funds from the center have not arrived, and there is no money in the account to pay us,” they said.

As a result, the staff announced an indefinite strike starting Tuesday, stating that they have no other option left to press for their due payments.
