A three-member team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) visited Dharmanagar on Thursday to review the preparations for the upcoming by-election in the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency.
The review meeting was held at 10:45 AM at the conference hall of the District Magistrate and Collector’s Office in North Tripura. The meeting was chaired by North District Magistrate and Collector Chandani Chandran and attended by senior administrative and police officials.
The ECI delegation included N. T. Bhutia, Principal Secretary, Santosh Kumar Dubey, Secretary, and Vijay Gupta, Section Officer.
The team assessed the preparedness of the district administration for the by-poll and provided necessary guidance to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
Among those present at the meeting were Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, Additional SP Kamal Debbarma, Additional CEO Mog, Returning Officer (RO) of 56-Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Dharmanagar Devyani Chowdhury, SDM of Panisagar Sushanta Debbarma, SDM of Kanchanpur Ashish Biswas, along with other assistant collectors and officials.
District Magistrate Chandani Chandran informed that the final voter list has already been published and 55 polling stations have been declared for the constituency. Training for polling officials has also begun.
The ECI team will also visit critical and vulnerable polling stations in the constituency to review security and logistical arrangements.
Although the official date for the by-election has not yet been announced, the District Magistrate stated that the administration is fully prepared from all administrative aspects to conduct the election smoothly and transparently.
