Tripura Police arrested four Bangladeshi nationals for crossing into India illegally in the Mahadebtilla area of Khowai district on Tuesday morning.

According to police sources, the operation was carried out following a tip-off. The individuals had reportedly entered India through an unauthorized route near the Asharambari border, paying a total of Rs 16,000 to brokers on both the Indian and Bangladeshi sides to facilitate the crossing.

The group was intercepted while traveling towards Khowai in an auto-rickshaw. Police and security personnel, dressed in white, apprehended them at Mahadebtilla and took them to Khowai Police Station.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Mia (55) from Kakbhola, Moulvibazar, Shyamal Mia (55), Helal Mia (40), and Abdul Wasik (24).

Authorities are questioning the suspects to ascertain the purpose of their illegal entry and identify any potential accomplices. A thorough investigation into the case is currently underway.
