Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from Kolumcherra Police Station, TSR personnel, and BSF troops from Boxanagar BOP of 49 Battalion carried out a successful anti-narcotics operation on Friday.
The operation, conducted between 1200 hrs and 1430 hrs, was led by Inspector Arup Debbarma, along with other police station officers and staff. The BSF team was headed by Post Commander SI Janak Raj.
During the sweep of the Putia GP Tila forest land area, the joint team located and destroyed an illegal ganja plantation spread across four plots. Approximately 2,000 cannabis plants were uprooted and burned on the spot.
Authorities stated that such operations will continue to curb illegal cultivation and prevent narcotics from entering the supply chain. Further investigations are underway to identify those involved in the plantation.
