In the aftermath of the devastating fire at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa’s Arpora area, police have issued a lookout notice for the club’s absconding owners, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. 

According to officials, the two brothers left Goa soon after the tragedy and are suspected of attempting to flee the country, prompting authorities to alert all airports and police stations nationwide.

Goa Police said the lookout notice was issued due to a strong possibility that the duo could try to escape abroad.

Meanwhile, four individuals—managers associated with the nightclub—who were arrested earlier were produced before the Bardez District Court late Sunday night. The court remanded all four to six days of police custody. They are currently being held at the Anjuna Police Station, where they have undergone nearly eight hours of questioning, including inquiries about the cause of the fire and the missing owners’ whereabouts.

In a parallel development, Delhi Police assisted Goa Police in detaining a man identified as Bhola, believed to have links with the Luthra brothers and the nightclub’s operations. A team of Goa Police personnel travelled to Delhi to take him into custody, and he is now being brought back to Goa for further interrogation.

Police have also detained another individual responsible for overseeing club operations, as investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to the blaze.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed anguish over the incident, announcing an ex gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of each deceased victim, and ₹50,000 for those injured. “The fire mishap in Arpora, Goa, is deeply saddening,” he wrote on X, adding that he had spoken to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and assured all possible assistance.

The fire, believed to have been triggered by a cylinder explosion inside the premises, erupted around midnight on Sunday when the club was bustling with activity due to its proximity to the popular Baga beach. The sudden blast reportedly gave people inside little time to flee, resulting in a high casualty count.

The tragedy claimed 25 lives—including four tourists and 14 staff members—while the identities of seven victims remain to be confirmed. Six people sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

Firefighters from multiple stations battled the blaze well into the early hours of the morning, while rescue teams continued combing through the debris at dawn in search of survivors and lingering hotspots. Senior officials, including the Director General of Police and teams from North Goa district, arrived at the site to oversee rescue, relief, and investigation efforts.
