A residential house was completely gutted in a devastating fire late at night in the Boler Dhepa area under Sonamura. Serious allegations have been raised against the NEPCO project authorities for failing to provide a nearby fire service vehicle, despite repeated requests.

According to reports, the fire broke out at around 3:00 a.m. yesterday at the residence of local resident Suleman Mia. The flames spread rapidly and soon engulfed the entire house. Household furniture, essential belongings, and daily-use items were completely reduced to ashes in the incident.

Locals alleged that a fire service vehicle was stationed at the NEPCO office, barely a minute away from the site of the fire. However, despite being informed immediately, the vehicle was not dispatched to the spot due to what residents described as “various excuses.” As a result, the fire went out of control, leading to massive losses.

The incident has triggered widespread anger among local residents. People expressed outrage over what they termed as inhuman and irresponsible behavior by NEPCO officials.

Residents claimed that if the fire engine had reached the spot on time, at least a portion of Suleman Mia’s house could have been saved. They demanded accountability and strict action against those responsible for the negligence.

The incident has sparked strong resentment in the area, with locals calling for immediate intervention by higher authorities to prevent such negligence in the future.
