A tragic incident has shaken the Amtali area of West District, where a young housewife, Beauty Das, was brutally murdered in Ashrampara under Amatali Police Station.
Initial investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from domestic violence, and the victim’s husband, Jagannath Das, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
According to police sources, the couple — Jagannath and Beauty — had been living for the past two years in a rented house owned by Nandita Roy in Amatali’s Ashrampara. Locals reported that frequent quarrels and unrest between the couple were common, though no one anticipated such a tragic outcome.
On Sunday morning, Jagannath called out to neighbors claiming that his wife was unresponsive. Beauty was rushed to Tripura Medical College, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Upon receiving the news, Tripura Police from Amtali Police Station, along with a dog squad and forensic team, swiftly reached the spot and cordoned off the house for investigation. Preliminary police reports indicate that a heated argument may have led Jagannath to kill his wife in a fit of rage.
Residents expressed deep shock and sorrow over the incident, recalling that frequent fights could be heard from the couple’s home.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police officials stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received.
The brutal incident has cast a pall of grief and anger across the entire Amtali area.
