In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics cultivation, a joint team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Kalamchoura Police Station carried out an extensive operation today between 0700 hrs and 1400 hrs in the forested areas of North Kalamchoura under Tripura's North District.

Personnel from Kalamchoura Police Station, TSR (men and women), CRPF, and the Forest Department took part in the coordinated drive. The team combed multiple locations identified as hotspots for illegal ganja cultivation.

During the operation, authorities destroyed approximately 5.5 lakh pre-matured ganja plants spread across 48 separate plots. All the illicit plantations were uprooted and destroyed on the spot.

Police officials stated that the operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal drug cultivation and trafficking in the region. Further investigations are underway to identify and trace those responsible for cultivating the contraband.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing strict enforcement operations to ensure the area remains free from illegal narcotics activities.
