A fresh leopard sighting in Jaipur’s Bajaj Nagar area has deepened public anxiety, as reports of the big cat roaming through several neighbourhoods of Rajasthan’s capital continue to rise. 

After earlier appearances in Civil Lines, Vidyadhar Nagar, Gopalpura, Shastri Nagar, Amer and Jagatpura, the latest incident has prompted heightened vigilance among both residents and wildlife officials.

CCTV footage from AG Colony captured the leopard moving through the locality on Saturday evening. When residents reviewed the footage on Sunday, they immediately alerted the forest department. Multiple individuals in the vicinity also reported seeing the animal at different spots throughout the day.

Eyewitnesses said the leopard was initially spotted in Anita Colony before it made its way toward Saraswati Marg and later surfaced near AG Colony, indicating that the animal has been freely navigating densely populated residential stretches.

In response, a Quick Response Team led by Chief Wildlife Warden K.C. Arun Prasad and a ranger unit under Jitendra Singh Shekhawat swung into action. The teams are employing ground patrols, digital tracking equipment and citizen tip-offs to follow the leopard’s trail.

Officials have issued an advisory urging residents to remain cautious—avoid solitary movement during early mornings and late evenings, keep children indoors, secure pets and immediately report any sighting to the control room.

Surveillance teams continued patrolling Bajaj Nagar and surrounding areas through Sunday night. Locals noted that the region borders the outer limits of the Jhalana Leopard Safari, making occasional leopard movement into urban areas more likely.

Wildlife experts say such incursions often occur when leopards venture out in search of food or water, particularly during transitional weather periods.

With sightings becoming increasingly common across Jaipur, the forest department has intensified its monitoring efforts and reassured residents that rescue, safety and containment measures are being carried out on priority.
