Tripura Police in Damchhara have arrested a man with a large consignment of Burmese cigarettes valued at around ₹15 lakh.
According to police sources, a tip-off was received that a huge stock of Burmese cigarettes was being stored at the residence of Abdul Fattar in the Kanajhuri area. Acting on the information, a police team conducted a raid at the location.
During the operation, the accused was detained, and a significant quantity of Burmese cigarettes was seized from his possession.
The arrested individual has been taken to the police station for interrogation. Police are investigating whether he is connected to any smuggling network or organized trafficking group.
The incident has created a stir in the locality, with residents expressing concern over the rise in illegal trade activities.
