Acting on secret intelligence, the Sonamura Police Station conducted a major anti-narcotics operation today in the Dulunga forest area from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. 

During the raid, authorities discovered 92 plots of ganja cultivation, with approximately 5 lakh mature ganja plants, covering an area of nearly 170 acres. All the plants were destroyed on the spot.

The estimated market value of the seized ganja is around Rs 75 crore.

This large-scale operation was carried out jointly by Sonamura Police, Sepahijala District Armed Police, multiple battalions of the BSF (81, 49, 69, 43), and several TSR units (5th, 9th, 11th, 14th, and 14th Women TSR) along with the Sonamura Forest Division and other allied agencies.

Authorities have hailed the operation as a significant blow to illegal narcotics cultivation in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating such activities from forest areas.
