Tripura’s Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that the ongoing Unity Promo Fest 2025 has witnessed an overwhelming public response, driving notable growth in the rural economy and drawing attention to homestays, local artisans, and log-hut tourism ventures across the state.
Addressing the media, the minister said the festival—launched on November 8 at Narkelkunja by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha—has seen record-breaking attendance at every location. The concluding ceremony is scheduled for December 12 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala, where Tourism Brand Ambassador Sourav Ganguly and popular Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal will grace the event, with Nautiyal set to perform live. Free passes for the finale are already being distributed. The Chief Minister, cabinet members, and senior officials are also expected to attend.
Chowdhury highlighted the strong turnout across districts, noting that the South District event on November 15–16 drew more than 60,000 visitors—an unprecedented figure for the region. The Udaipur leg of the festival, held on November 18–19 with a performance by singer Papon, attracted nearly 50,000 attendees. As part of the celebrations, the Eden Tourist Lodge at Jampui was inaugurated on November 28–29. The Neermahal event on December 5–6 also recorded a vibrant crowd.
The minister added that all programs have been conducted smoothly and asserted that previous administrations had not executed tourism initiatives on such a large scale. He also announced that participation from tour operators has grown significantly, expanding from 78 to 122, with delegates arriving from countries such as Thailand, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Speaking on security preparations, Inspector General (Law & Order) Ipper Menchak stated that police have not received any law-and-order complaints throughout the festival. However, he acknowledged that managing the expected turnout for the closing ceremony will be a major operational task.
To ensure smooth proceedings, authorities have arranged eight entry gates with strict security checks, restricted items (only water bottles allowed), six designated parking areas along with six no-parking zones, and three alternative traffic routes. The public has been advised to stay seated during the program and avoid blocking pathways, as overcrowding last year hindered movement.
Officials assured that extensive measures are in place to manage the crowd and ensure a safe, well-organized finale.
