The sudden death of an elderly woman living alone has triggered concern in the Nandi Tilla locality of Camper Bazar in Agartala, after she was found unresponsive inside her residence on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Laxmi Karmakar (80), had been residing by herself, while her children live in different locations.

According to local sources, suspicion arose when there was no movement or response from her home since early morning. A nearby resident eventually entered the house to check on her and discovered her lying motionless on the floor. The family was promptly informed.

Police reached the scene shortly after being alerted and began preliminary inquiries. To ensure a thorough investigation, a forensic team along with a dog squad was brought in to examine the surroundings.

Authorities have shifted the body for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death. Officials said the circumstances remain unclear, and a detailed investigation is currently underway to rule out any foul play.
