Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday expressed confidence that the NDA alliance will secure at least 90 per cent of the seats in the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
The Village Committee elections are scheduled to be held on September 28, with the BJP, IPFT and Tipra Motha Party contesting the polls as alliance partners.
Speaking to reporters, Saha said the NDA constituents were contesting the elections together in accordance with their alliance arrangement.
“You can remain assured that the NDA alliance will win a minimum of 90 per cent in the Village Committee elections,” the Chief Minister said.
Saha also said he had not yet been asked by the party to campaign in the elections, noting that the poll campaign was currently being handled at the village level by elected representatives and organisational leaders.
“This is a village-level election. Our elected representatives are going there and working. Party leaders and representatives are also campaigning. So far, the party has not told me that I need to go there. If they feel my presence is required, they will certainly inform me,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the NDA partners were working jointly in the Village Committee elections and expressed confidence about the alliance’s electoral prospects.
The elections are being closely watched as the alliance partners seek to consolidate their position across the TTAADC areas.
