A delegation from the North Eastern Council (NEC) recently visited Tripura to assess and strengthen the execution of projects under its various funding programs.

During the visit, the team held comprehensive review sessions with officials from the National Projects Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) in Agartala, focusing on project progress, coordination among implementing agencies, quality assurance, and timely delivery.

The NEC representatives reviewed ongoing initiatives in sectors such as education, tourism, and agriculture, while engaging closely with Tripura government authorities to ensure effective project management.

In February, the NEC sanctioned a total of Rs 67,41,09,587 for projects across the North Eastern states. In Tripura, the funding primarily targeted enhancing livelihoods through fisheries and promoting science education. Key initiatives included measures to improve fish productivity, strengthen the fisheries value chain, and generate sustainable employment opportunities for local communities.

To foster scientific curiosity, innovation, and the practical application of science among students and youth, the NEC also supported the establishment of a Science Park within Tripura’s Science Village. In addition to these flagship projects, the council extended support to initiatives in knowledge exchange, cultural preservation, and tourism development, further contributing to the state’s holistic growth and development.
