Serious dissatisfaction has spread across the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital premises following allegations of irresponsible and erratic behaviour by Technical Assistant Muktar Hossain, posted in the hospital’s X-ray department.

According to hospital sources, medical staff and patients have long been frustrated over Hossain’s repeated negligence, absence from duty, and alleged misbehaviour with patients.

His lack of professionalism has reportedly forced GDA staff member Prabin Kumar Jamatia to handle X-ray services frequently in his place.

Hossain, who was appointed during the previous Left Front administration, has faced similar allegations for years. However, no effective action has been taken against him so far, staff members claim.

In contrast, Teliamura MLA Kalyani Saha Roy has been working tirelessly to improve the hospital’s infrastructure and ensure better healthcare services. From beautification projects to administrative interventions for enhanced patient services, she has initiated several development measures. Yet, locals allege that the efforts of dedicated public representatives are repeatedly undermined by the carelessness of a few employees like Hossain.

During an on-site visit, it was found that although the official duty reporting time is 9:00 AM, Muktar Hossain arrived at the hospital around 10:30 AM. In his absence, a critically ill patient’s X-ray was being conducted by GDA staffer Jamatia. When questioned by the media, Hossain appeared evasive, citing reasons such as an “important meeting in Agartala” and a “broken bike” as excuses for his delay.

Meanwhile, the hospital’s MOIC Dr. Ajit Debbarma, when approached for comments, said he had no information regarding any leave taken by Hossain. He assured the media that the matter would be looked into.
