The National Federation of New States (NFNS) and the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) have jointly announced a one-day sit-in demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, scheduled for 15 December 2025.
The programme aims to press for two key demands including formation of a separate state, and passing of the 125th Constitution Amendment Bill, 2019 during the upcoming Winter Session of the Indian Parliament.
In a press statement Swapan Debbarma, General Secretary, IPFT Tripura said that representatives of NFNS from all Northeastern states are expected to participate in the demonstration. From Tripura, the IPFT has set a target of sending around 100 delegates.
According to IPFT, the party will reiterate its long-standing demand for the creation of a separate Tipraland State comprising areas under the TTA-ADC. It will also urge the Central Government to pass the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2019 within the Winter Session, enabling the upgradation of the TTA-ADC to a Tripura Territorial Council (TTC) as recommended by the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Council of Ministers.
Additionally, the party will appeal to all ADC MDCs and MLAs of the Northeast to write to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah within December, requesting the passage of the Bill during the Winter Session.
The IPFT has directed every party division to send a minimum of three delegates to join the demonstration. The task of arranging train tickets and other logistical requirements has been assigned to the Treasurer of IPFT and the Treasurer of Youth IPFT. All participating delegates have been instructed to contact them for travel arrangements.
