Chief Minster Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the state government is determined to implement a comprehensive and effective policy to ensure the supply of safe drinking water to every resident.

He said that necessary instructions have already been issued to the concerned departmental officials to achieve this goal.

Dr Saha reiterated the government’s commitment while addressing a review meeting of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department held today at the Secretariat Conference Hall today.

He emphasized that the government aims to provide hygienic drinking water to every household in both rural and urban areas.

For this, Dr Saha stressed the importance of coordination between public representatives and departmental officials and instructed officials to ensure that water is not wasted under any circumstances.

The Chief Minister noted that the state comprises both hilly and plain regions, which results in uneven groundwater levels.

Dr Saha also directed officials to take initiatives to store rainwater in specific areas so that it can be used as drinking water.

Highlighting the importance of water conservation, Dr Saha mentioned that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Amrit Sarovar Project to promote the multipurpose use of water, from which people are already benefiting in various ways.

Secretary Abhishek Singh, Agriculture Department Secretary Apurba Roy and others were present in the meeting.
