Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), with polling scheduled for April 12. Polling personnel have already begun reaching their designated stations along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and security forces.
According to Anurag Sen, Secretary of the Tripura State Election Commission, the dispatch of polling teams started at 8:00 AM today. He confirmed that nearly 100% of polling personnel have already collected their materials and departed for their respective polling centres.
“By this evening, all polling staff, along with security personnel, will be stationed at their assigned locations. Voting will commence at 7:00 AM tomorrow. We are hopeful of full cooperation from voters and political parties to ensure a peaceful and smooth election process,” he stated.
A total of 173 candidates are contesting the elections across 28 seats, representing major political parties including the BJP, CPI(M), Congress, Tipra Motha, and IPFT.
The election will see participation from 9,62,547 registered voters, who will cast their votes at 1,257 polling stations spread across the council areas.
To ensure security and maintain law and order, extensive arrangements have been put in place. Area domination exercises and flag marches are being conducted regularly. Additionally, 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed across the state and positioned strategically as per election guidelines.
Authorities remain optimistic that the polling process will be conducted peacefully and efficiently.
