President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conveyed heartfelt greetings to the Indian Army on the occasion of Army Day, calling it a moment to honour the courage, dedication and supreme sacrifice of soldiers who serve the nation with unwavering commitment.

In her message, the President said the Indian Army has consistently upheld the finest traditions of professionalism and bravery, both in safeguarding the country’s borders and in extending humanitarian assistance during natural disasters.

She also lauded the Army’s gallant performance and significant achievements during Operation Sindoor.

“On the occasion of Army Day 2026, I extend my warm felicitations to the Indian Army. This day stands as a tribute to the courage, dedication and supreme sacrifice of our soldiers who remain steadfast in the service of the nation,” President Murmu said, adding that the Army continues to form the backbone of India’s national security.

Highlighting its multifaceted role, she expressed confidence that the Army would continue contributing to nation-building efforts, supporting economic progress and inclusive development.

Reiterating the country’s gratitude, the President saluted soldiers across all ranks and wished them strength, success and glory in the discharge of their duties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the Indian Army on Army Day, saluting its courage and unwavering sense of duty.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the Army symbolises selfless service and resilience, often operating under the most challenging circumstances to protect the nation. He added that the soldiers’ dedication inspires pride and gratitude among citizens.

The Prime Minister also remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, paying tribute to their bravery and service to the nation.
