North Tripura District has added another feather to its cap by securing national recognition as the Best Performing District in the North East & Hilly Zone under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

According to a post by the North Tripura District Administration on Facebook, the award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to District Magistrate Chandni Chandran during a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

In addition to the national honour, the district has been granted a ₹2 crore award for its remarkable achievement in creating over 11,000 water conservation structures between February 2025 and May 2025. 

This accomplishment underscores North Tripura’s strong commitment to sustainable water management and community-led initiatives.

Officials highlighted that the success was the result of seamless coordination among various departments, active support from public representatives, and the wholehearted participation of local residents. The district administration extended its gratitude to all stakeholders whose contribution made this achievement possible.
