The Directorate of Secondary Education has announced that recruitment processes are actively underway to fill vacant teaching positions across schools under its jurisdiction.

According to an official statement, the Directorate is currently conducting recruitment for 1,158 Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs) and 700 Graduate Teachers (Secondary level).

The Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT) has also recommended the appointment of 57 qualified candidates as Special Educators and 106 candidates as Physical Education Teachers.

From 2018 to August 31, 2025, the Directorate has appointed a total of 2,003 teachers to address vacancies created by retirements and other factors. During the same period, 1,540 teachers retired from service.

The Directorate further clarified that, following the Supreme Court’s order dated March 29, 2017, in SLP Nos. 18993–19049/2014, the services of 10,323 teachers previously employed under the Directorate were terminated.

Reiterating its commitment to strengthening the education system, the Directorate emphasized that efforts are ongoing to fill all vacant posts in a phased and systematic manner. It also dismissed recent media reports alleging stagnation in recruitment, stating that these claims do not reflect the significant progress made in teacher appointments.
