Members of the Sanatan Hindu Sena today staged a protest outside the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala, alleging persecution of minority communities in Bangladesh.
The demonstration led to tension in the area, prompting the deployment of a large number of police and paramilitary personnel to maintain law and order.
According to the protesters, a minority youth named Dipu Chandra Das was allegedly beaten to death in the Dubalia Para area of Bhaluka upazila in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district. The organization said the protest was held to condemn the incident and to draw attention to what it described as growing insecurity faced by minorities in the neighboring country.
Protesters demanded that the Bangladesh government take immediate and effective steps to ensure the safety and security of minority communities. They warned that if concrete action is not taken, they would intensify their agitation in the coming days.
Despite the tense situation, no untoward incident was reported, and security forces remained on alert throughout the protest.
