Traffic movement came to a complete standstill on today after local residents staged a road blockade at the Narikel Kunj T-Junction on the Gandacherra–Roishyabari road from around 3:00 am.

According to sources, the protest was organized over several local demands, including the establishment of a cold storage facility in the area. As the blockade continued for several hours, numerous small and large vehicles were left stranded on both sides of the road.

The disruption has caused severe inconvenience to daily commuters as well as tourists traveling from distant places. Many passengers were seen waiting for hours as vehicles remained stuck due to the obstruction.

Protesters stated that despite repeatedly raising their demands for a long time, the administration has failed to take effective action. Left with no alternative, they said, they were compelled to resort to agitation. The demonstrators also warned of launching a larger movement if their demands are not met soon.
