A ‘unity march’ was organised in Pasighat here in East Siang District on Tuesday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first home minister.
The celebrations honouring Sardar Patel’s legacy were observed in which State BJP President, Kaling Moyong, Lok Sabha MP, Tapir Gao, Pasighat West MLA, Ninong Ering, Namsai MLA, Zingnu Namchoom, state and district BJP office bearers and total of 250 individuals took participation including the students.
The march commenced from Mirku Secondary School playground and culminated at Tigra-Mirbuk Dere (community hall) via Mirku and Mirsam village at Pasighat. The event was led by Kaling Moyong, state BJP President and Tapir Gao Lok Sabha MP and event was organized under the arrangement of District BJP President, Mirem Komut and General Secretary-cum-Convenor Sardar @150 Unity March East Siang District unit. State Secretary, Ritemso Manyu-cum-Co-convenor Sardar @150 Unity March, Tayo Amar East Siang District incharge sardar @150 Unity March and Pawan Kumar 'MY BHARAT' Asst. Director, Gumsen Lolen, State President Kissan Morcha and Aku Borang, State Vice-President Kissan Morcha, ZPC East Siang District, Olen Rome, Smt Dui Gao, wife of MP Tapir Gao also actively participated in the event.
As part of the celebration, a tree plantation drive was also conducted under the theme ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ during the event while reinforcing the commitment to environmental conservation.
The Sardar@150 Unity March in Pasighat brought citizens together in a vibrant display of unity and pride, celebrating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the spirit of togetherness that strengthens the nation, said Tapir Gao.
The Sardar@150 Unity March is a nationwide initiative honouring the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It symbolises his unparalleled role in unifying India, as part of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, it aligns with the mission of Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat of the Prime Minister, said Kaling Moyong, BJP State President.
"Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was aptly called the Iron Man of India for his unwavering strength, decisive leadership, and firm resolve in unifying the princely states in India during his time", said Zingnu Namchoom MLA Namsai-cum-State Convenor Sardar @150 Unity March.
He said Patel had dreamt of hoisting the tricolour across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir. The Narendra Modi government, he said, realised Patel’s dream by abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution and upholding the unity of the country. He said the Union government has been organising the Unity March every year in memory of Patel, who worked hard for the unification of the country. It was because of Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister, that the country has remained united even now.
State BJP President, Moyong administered the unity pledge. And earlier Moyong and Gao flagged off the Unity March.
