The ongoing Smart City Project in the capital, Agartala, has become a source of danger for residents, with poor management and negligence putting lives at risk.

Despite months of development work in various parts of the city, the lack of safety measures has turned the so-called progress into a public hazard.

A shocking incident occurred in the Bhati Abhoynagar West Para area of Agartala, where Smart City workers reportedly dug a deep pit along the roadside and left it uncovered.

With no warning signs, barricades, or lighting in place, a motorcyclist fell into the pit early today morning and was seriously injured.

Local residents allege that large pits are being dug and left unattended for days, with no sign of workers returning to complete the job.

They say this negligence is not only increasing the risk of accidents but also severely disrupting daily movement in the area.

“Under the name of the Smart City Project, these works have become a source of suffering for the people,” said one resident, expressing frustration over the lack of administrative supervision.

Residents have demanded immediate action from the authorities to fill the dangerous pits and ensure proper safety arrangements to prevent further mishaps.
