In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) carried out a raid at the residence of notorious drug peddler Hafiz Mia in the Bhagypur Panchayat area of Dharmanagar under North District today.

Speaking on the issue one security personnel said that during the raid, the security forces recovered sharp weapons, cash amounting to Rs 3 lakh, a currency counting machine, account ledgers related to drug trafficking, and empty polythene packets used for packing narcotics.

According to police sources, Hafiz Mia has been involved in drug trafficking and illegal financial transactions for a long time. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the STF and BSF conducted the operation at his house.

However, Hafiz Mia and his family members were not present at the house at the time of the raid. The recovered items have been seized, and further investigation is underway. Authorities are trying to trace the whereabouts of the accused and are likely to intensify the crackdown on drug networks in the area.
