East Agartala Police have achieved success in two separate theft cases, arresting three accused persons and recovering stolen gold ornaments and other valuables.

According to police sources, on Tuesday a gang of thieves broke into the residence of Moumita Debbarma, a resident of the Palace Compound area near Agartala Town Hall. The miscreants reportedly fled with several valuable items, including a table fan and other household articles. Following the incident, the victim lodged a written complaint at the police station.

Acting swiftly, police reviewed CCTV footage from the area and managed to identify the accused. Based on the evidence, Suraj Debbarma was arrested from the Katakhal area. He was produced before the court, where police sought two days of remand for further interrogation.

In another operation, police investigated a theft complaint from a house in the Nayanmura Laddu Choumuhani area of Agartala, where gold ornaments had gone missing. During the investigation, it came to light that painting work was underway at the house at the time of the theft. Police suspect that the painters were involved in the crime.

Subsequently, police conducted raids and arrested two accused along with the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments. Additionally, a jeweller allegedly involved in buying and selling the stolen gold has also been detained, police said.

Police officials stated that all the accused are being interrogated to determine whether more individuals are involved in the thefts. The successful operations have brought a sense of relief among local residents.
