Three people were tragically killed after an Agartala–Silchar-bound train collided with a Bolero goods vehicle on Thursday in the Sindhu Kumar Para area under Longtharai Valley subdivision.
According to local sources, the accident occurred when the Bolero attempted to cross the railway crossing and was struck with high force by the approaching train.
The impact was so severe that the driver and two others inside the vehicle died on the spot.
Upon receiving information, police and railway officials rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. The bodies have been sent to Manu Hospital for post-mortem examination.
A pall of grief has descended on the area following the incident. Police have launched an investigation and are also examining whether there were any lapses in the safety measures at the railway crossing.
