The Tripura Traffic Police have intensified their campaign against vehicles equipped with modified silencers, as part of an ongoing enforcement drive to reduce noise and environmental pollution across the state.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kanta Jangir said on Sunday that regular inspections are being carried out, and strict action is being taken against such illegal modifications, which pose serious risks to public health and the environment.
“We have been conducting this special drive regularly. With court approval, around 410 modified bike silencers have been destroyed,” SP Jangir confirmed.
She emphasized that modified silencers not only cause extreme noise pollution and public disturbance but also lead to health issues. Jangir further cautioned that offenders could face severe penalties — including a ₹10,000 fine, bike seizure, possible imprisonment, and even suspension of their driving licence.
“Many riders use these modified silencers, especially during early mornings and evenings, disturbing peace in residential areas. We urge young riders to act responsibly and avoid such modifications,” she added.
The Tripura Traffic Police reaffirmed their commitment to promoting road safety and ensuring a peaceful environment, stating that similar enforcement drives will continue across the state in the coming weeks.
