Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the 17th Road Safety Council meeting was held today. The Transport Department organizes this meeting every three months.
Officials including the IG of Law and Order, SP Traffic, and representatives from the Transport Department, as well as the DMs and SPs of all eight districts, participated virtually in the meeting. Various decisions were taken during the session to enhance road safety across the state.
Minister Chowdhury highlighted the Raah Veer Scheme, introduced by the Central Government, noting that the financial assistance for individuals saving accident victims has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000. Under this scheme, eight people were honored today for their brave acts in saving lives during accidents.
He further stated that another meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, will be held soon. All DMs and SPs have been directed to submit detailed reports. Discussions were also held on measures to reduce the number of road accidents, with officials providing their suggestions.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized, “Together, we will work to decrease road traffic accidents and ensure the safety of citizens.”
