Following scrutiny, 181 candidates have been declared eligible to contest the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), which are set to take place on April 12.
Anurag Sen, Secretary of the Tripura State Election Commission, stated that the election process is moving ahead without issues. He mentioned that the deadline for filing nominations was March 25, during which 186 candidates submitted a total of 268 nomination papers.
Scrutiny of the nominations was conducted across all 28 constituencies and has now been completed. Out of the total candidates, 181 nominations were accepted, while five were rejected due to various discrepancies.
Sen also noted that candidates can withdraw their nominations until tomorrow, after which the final list of contestants will be released.
