The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has constituted two separate 15-member committees to oversee the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections and the Dharmanagar by-poll.
The TTAADC polls are scheduled for April 12, with counting on April 17, while the Dharmanagar by-election will take place on April 9.
BJP General Secretary Amit Rakshit said that senior state leaders, including Ministers Tinku Roy, Sushanta Chowdhury, Bikas Debbarma, Santana Chakma, former MP Rebati Tripura, General Secretaries Amit Rakshit and Biping Debbarma, and ST Morcha President Parimal Debbarma, will be actively involved in the TTAADC elections.
For the Dharmanagar by-poll, the committee includes Minister Sudhangshu Das, party Vice President Tapas Bhattacharya, General Secretary and MLA Bhagaban Das, State Secretary Ratan Ghosh, Joint Treasurer MK Nath, and State Committee members Prakas Das and Tapas Roy.
Meanwhile, Tripura BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee convened a meeting at the party office to discuss preparations for the district council elections. Speaking on the meeting, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “We discussed various issues in detail in view of the upcoming Autonomous District Council elections.”
Sources confirmed that a core committee meeting will be held tomorrow at the Tripura BJP state office to finalize the candidate list for the district council polls, which will be announced shortly after.
