In preparation for the upcoming by-election in the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency of Tripura’s North District, a meeting was held today at the Election Department’s conference hall with representatives from all recognized national and state political parties.

The seat fell vacant following the passing of MLA and Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, and the by-election is scheduled for April 9.

The meeting was chaired by Brijesh Pandey, Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura. Key political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), and Tipra Motha Party were represented. Additional Chief Electoral Officer UJ. Mog and other senior election officials were also present.

During the session, officials of the Election Department provided comprehensive details on the by-election process. Party representatives were briefed on the guidelines and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The Election Department urged all political parties to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair polling process. The representatives expressed their commitment to cooperating fully.

The meeting also included discussions on the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls to ensure accurate voter registration ahead of the polls.
