Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha visited GB Pant Hospital today to check on victims of yesterday’s attack at Santirbazar in Salema, Kamalpur, which followed a bandh called by the Tripura Civil Society.
Dr. Saha said he monitored the situation through the night and has given clear instructions to the police. “I have come to enquire about the health of the victims. What happened is really unacceptable. People were attacked with sticks and rods, and chains were snatched — I don't understand what kind of protest this is,” he said, adding that the law will take its course.
Authorities reported that around 12 people were injured; some are receiving treatment in Kamalpur. The Chief Minister said a large police contingent was deployed and that individuals involved have been identified on social media. “No one will be spared. Those responsible will be nowhere in the coming days — just wait and see what will happen,” he warned.
Dr. Saha reiterated that strict action has been ordered against those involved and that the administration will ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
