The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Court No. 5, Agartala, found Mithu Das, a resident of Dukli, Bankumari, Icha Bazaar under A.D. Nagar Police Station, guilty of committing the offence under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court awarded him rigorous imprisonment for life along with a fine of ₹20,000. The incident occurred on October 19, 2017, at around 8:30 PM, when the accused reportedly poured kerosene on his wife and set her on fire with the intention to kill her. She sustained severe burn injuries and was later admitted to AGMC & GBP Hospital in Agartala, where she succumbed to her injuries.
