More than 9 lakh voters are set to participate in this year’s Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has also announced a by-election for the Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, scheduled for April 9, 2026.

The Dharmanagar seat in North Tripura became vacant following the demise of the sitting MLA, who also served as the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.

According to a notification issued by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Election Commission, the final electoral roll for the 28 TTAADC constituencies was published on March 13, 2026. The total number of registered voters is 9,62,697, comprising 4,82,025 males, 4,80,666 females, and 6 voters from the third gender.

For the Dharmanagar by-election, the ECI has set the last date for filing nominations as March 23, 2026. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on March 24, while the final date for withdrawal is March 26, 2026. Polling is scheduled on April 9, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the counting of votes will occur on May 4. The election process is expected to conclude by May 6, 2026.
