Tripura Minister Santana Chakma today described the Union Budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year as “people-centric and development-oriented” during a press conference.

Detailing various aspects of the budget, Minister Chakma said it has been crafted with the welfare of all sections of society in mind. She emphasized that the budget would play a significant role in empowering women, creating employment opportunities for the youth, and promoting farmers’ welfare. 

According to her, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the budget is an important step towards building a “Developed India.”

The press conference was also attended by North District BJP President Kajal Das, Convener Jayjit Sharma, and other district committee leaders. They highlighted the budget’s substantial allocation for infrastructure development, noting that it would generate new employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s economic foundation.

Party leadership further emphasized that the central government is paying special attention to the development of northeastern states, including Tripura. They discussed how the benefits of various central schemes would reach the grassroots level and directly impact the common people.

The leaders also strongly criticized opposition parties for spreading negative propaganda regarding the budget. They maintained that the budget is not merely a financial document but a clear roadmap for the nation’s overall progress. The press conference concluded with a commitment from the leadership to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the public efficiently.
