Tripura Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee today has urged the introduction of a high-speed train service between Agartala and Guwahati, highlighting the need to modernize and accelerate rail connectivity in Tripura.

Speaking in Parliament, Bhattacharjee stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Northeast has witnessed transformative development. He noted that Tripura is now well connected to other parts of India through a broad-gauge railway network. Direct train services such as the Tripura Sundari Express and the Kanchanjungha Express link Agartala with major cities including Kolkata, New Delhi, and Guwahati.

However, the MP emphasized that rail travel between Agartala and Guwahati currently takes a considerable amount of time, affecting not only passengers but also trade, education, healthcare, and tourism sectors. He stressed that launching a high-speed train on this route would significantly reduce travel time and offer a more comfortable journey.

Bhattacharjee further appealed to the Ministry of Railways to consider the proposal at the earliest, stating that faster rail connectivity would directly benefit students, working professionals, patients, and tourists in Tripura. He added that improved connectivity would also boost industrial growth, commerce, and investment opportunities in the state.
