Tripura’s Minister for Welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Santana Chakma, on Tuesday met Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss key issues related to the welfare of OBC students and communities.

During the meeting, the ministers held detailed discussions on the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship schemes for OBC students, particularly focusing on students pursuing higher education. Minister Chakma highlighted the concerns and challenges faced by OBC students in accessing timely scholarship support.

The meeting also covered a range of other welfare schemes for OBC communities, with emphasis on effective implementation and addressing existing bottlenecks. According to Minister Chakma, the discussion was constructive and forward-looking.

Expressing optimism, Santana Chakma stated that Union Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar Khatik assured prompt resolution of the issues at the earliest possible time, offering renewed hope to thousands of OBC students across the country.

“This assurance is a ray of hope for all OBC students. I am grateful for the Union Minister’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities and strengthening social justice initiatives,” the Tripura minister said.

The meeting is seen as a positive step toward strengthening coordination between the Centre and the State to ensure better educational opportunities and social empowerment for OBC students.
